Latchi sits closest — twenty minutes along the Akamas cliffs and the anchor drops. Paphos adds a coach leg over the peninsula first. Ayia Napa and Protaras run the long lazy-day cruises up the east coast instead. Same water, three different days.
Straight out of Latchi harbour
Twenty minutes past the Baths of Aphrodite and the engine cuts. The quickest way into the water, and the one that leaves an afternoon spare.
Over the Akamas, then into the lagoon
The bus climbs the peninsula road to Latchi, the boat does the rest. The cheapest way in from a Paphos hotel, and the longest day of the three.
East coast cruise with lunch aboard
Turtle Cove, a swim stop off the cliffs, lunch served on deck and the music up on the way home. The east coast reads the day differently.
The east coast keeps the clearest water on the island.
Cape Greco’s sea caves, Konnos Bay, the turtle stops off Protaras and a gallery of sculptures standing on the seabed below Ayia Napa. Cruises leave both harbours all summer; the good ones anchor long enough to actually swim.

Beach bars and boat trips run right across the Mediterranean. A sculpture gallery on the seabed, a birthplace myth with the rock still standing offshore, and a village that has sewn the same lace for six centuries do not.
The Underwater Museum
Off Pernera, on the sand between Ayia Napa and Protaras, stands a forest of concrete trees with human figures walking among them. It opened in 2021 as a sculpture museum built to be seen underwater, shallow enough that a guided snorkel reaches it and a first dive covers the whole gallery. The other end of the island has the Zenobia, the ferry that rolled over off Larnaca in 1980 and became one of the Mediterranean’s great wreck dives.

Aphrodite’s Rock and Baths
The sea stack on the Paphos–Limassol road is Petra tou Romiou, where the goddess is said to have come ashore out of the foam. Fifty kilometres north, at the road’s end past Latchi, a fig tree shades the pool where she is said to have bathed. The grotto takes five minutes to see and the coastal trail behind it takes the rest of the morning, straight into the Akamas.

Pano Lefkara
A stone village in the Troodos foothills where the needlework has its own name, lefkaritika, and its own place on UNESCO’s intangible heritage list. Women still sew in the doorways on the main lane and the silversmiths work a few doors along. The village tells a story about Leonardo buying an altar cloth here; the lace is worth the drive with or without it.

Cyprus keeps a cooler island an hour inland.
July and August on the coast are relentless. Troodos climbs high enough that the air changes on the drive up: pine forest, painted Byzantine churches on the UNESCO list, waterfalls behind the villages and lunch under a vine. Most trips up leave early and get you back in time for a swim.
The south coast runs on a wreck, a salt lake and the old wine roads.
Larnaca has the Zenobia lying on her port side offshore, a salt lake that fills with flamingos over winter and the shortest airport run on the island. Limassol keeps the castle where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria, the Greco-Roman theatre at Kourion above the cliff, and the wine villages on the slope behind town.
